Community Connections are working in partnership and collaborating closely with similar organisations in the UK, Belgium and France to meet the needs of unemployed people in our communities by sharing expertise and learning.
This partnership project is being funded from the European Regional Development Fund and will focus on three main aims:
Undertaking remedial action to improve the physical and mental mobility of participants:
We will achieve this by supporting individuals through a series of imaginative and relevant workshops to identify barriers they face in moving forward, building motivation and inspiration and provide opportunity to address the barriers and develop resilience. They will have access to information, advice and guidance and 1-2-1 motivational support
Addressing a lack of soft-skills and adverse personal circumstances which prevent individuals from progressing into employment.
This will include providing information, advice and working with individuals to build their self-esteem, aspirations, and develop interview and CV writing techniques. We will also include support to overcome other personal barriers to employment (including financial, housing, health matters etc).
Supporting individuals to develop skills and qualifications so that they are better equipped to enter the world of work:
These aims will be achieved through a combination of tailored workshops, one to one support and progression into other local services where they can access vocational training and work placements experience. The training we provide enables all participants to progress at their own pace to achieve a better quality of life as they get closer to the job market. The courses we provide are designed to tackle the barriers that prevent members of the local community from seeking, obtaining and keeping jobs.
Both Great Yarmouth and Waveney are areas with high levels of deprivation and multi-generational unemployment. This service is aimed primarily at unemployed people who are marginalised, isolated, or experiencing barriers to progression and who want to find ways to move forward to improve their quality of life. As such we aim to provide access to opportunities and learning experiences to 200-300 unemployed people from within our community.
