The Community Apprenticeship Programme for Minority Ethnic Groups (CAPMEG)
The Community Apprenticeship Programme for Minority Ethnic Groups (CAPMEG) offers
minority ethnic individuals and groups the chance to share their experience and
skills with each other and the wider community.
At the same time it offers participants the chance to learn about community work
and developing their community involvement through practical activity within their
own groups or other community projects.
|
|
|
CAPMEG will empower minority ethnic people and groups by:
- Linking them into existing networks and related activities
- Helping set up networks where they do not exist
- Valuing the existing skills and experience of all participants
- Creating the opportunity for mutual sharing and learning
- Providing good quality community work training
- Providing links to other associated training through member groups of College in the Community
- Providing supervision and mentoring
- Organising and supervising practical community work
- Assisting participants in building a portfolio of skills, knowledge and experience
- Involving participants in the development of the programme
- Getting the support of individuals and groups already in touch with minority ethnic communities
- Helping participants to find funding for their own community projects as they are developed
This is a pilot programme which will run until March 31st 06.
It is developed and managed by Community Connections in collaboration with other partners.
It is funded by the Government's Single Community Programme.
